Next generation MOVFR - FAQ's
What changed?
The next generation MOVFR has a new VVVF Drive. GAL needed to find a VVVF drive supplier who would work with us to address the evolving needs of today's door controls. The new drive has several added features and benefits (see other sections) The mechanical equipment is identical to the original MOVFR.
How will the change affect me?
The new VVVF drive has a hand held parameter unit that is not compatible with the old unit. If you have ongoing jobs that will continue beyond September, where you are already installing the original MOVFR, you may want to contact GAL and ask that you receive original units for the balance of your job. Conversely, if you have a job that will start before September, and continue past, you might want to request that all operators for this job be equipped with the new drive.
When will GAL change to the next generation MOVFR?
Full production will begin in the first week of September 2005. Unless requested otherwise, all units shipped beginning in September will have the new drive.
Will GAL continue to support the original MOVFR?
Yes, we have planned carefully and will be able to provide replacement drives for the original MOVFR for the foreseeable future.
Can I switch to the updated MOVFR right away?
Yes, all field testing is complete, and GAL has begun to ship the new units on request. If you have a job scheduled to begin between now and the first of September, you can request that all these units be equipped with the new drive.
Will I need to do or know anything different in order to receive the updated MOVFR?
No, unless you request otherwise, all operators built, starting in September, will automatically come with the new drive.
